COMPOSITE SKETCHES OF the men believed to have shot an off-duty garda in New Orleans have been released by the New Orleans Police Department.
The two suspects are wanted for the shooting of 30-year-old garda Brian Hanrahan – who is based in Newcastle West in Limerick.
Shooting
He is believed to have been shot in the lower back and leg after refusing to hand over cash in an attempted mugging.
When officers arrived, they found Hanrahan lying in the driveway of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
Hanrahan told police he met an unknown subject who brought him to the area after telling him he knew of a place where they could get a drink. Hanrahan told police that he went to an ATM and withdrew $200.
When they reached the location on New Orleans Street, he said he encountered an unknown male who asked him for money. When he refused, the suspect shot him and took his money.
The suspects then fled on foot.
The police department have also released video footage of the suspects:
Suspect number one (on the left) is described by the police as a man in his 30s , 5’8” tall, with a light complexion. He has facial stubble which included some grey hairs, and was wearing a grey ball cap with an unknown design
Suspect number two (on the right) is described as a man in his late 30s or early 40s and was armed with a firearm.
Police state that a cash reward of up to $2,500 could be given to those who provide information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the people responsible. Information can also submit an anonymous tip online to Crimestoppers.
