13 TV shows you’re definitely going to want to watch this autumn

On RTÉ, Netflix and beyond.

YOU MAY BE busy mourning summer 2015 (RIP), but the arrival of autumn does mean that a rake of new television shows are on the way.

Here are 13 to keep an eye out for this autumn.

1. Clean Break

RTE ONE NEW SEASON: CLEAN BREAK Bernard Walsh / RTÉ Bernard Walsh / RTÉ / RTÉ

Premiere date: 27th September, RTÉ One

Clean Break aims to fill the Love/Hate-shaped hole in your life. The drama, set in Wexford, follows the consequences of a tiger kidnapping gone wrong and looks very slick.

Give this trailer a gander and we guarantee you’ll get excited.

2. Scream Queens

Welcome to KKT. #ScreamQueens screamqueensfox screamqueensfox

Premiere date: September 22nd (no UK/Ireland broadcaster as of yet)

A college campus is rocked by a series of gruesome murders in this horror comedy starring Emma Roberts and Lea Michele. It’s from the creators of Glee and American Horror Story, so it’ll be either brilliantly camp or a total car crash.

Either way, we’re intrigued.

3. The Muppets

Premiere date: TBC, Sky One

They’re back! This new sitcom follows The Muppets during production of a fictional late night show hosted by Miss Piggy. Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon and Liam Hemsworth are among the guest stars.

4. Master of None

Premiere date: November 6th, Netflix

In his new sitcom for Netflix, Aziz Ansari plays Dev, an actor fumbling his way through life in New York City. Vulture reports that each episode will explore “big ideas” like immigration and travel.

We are so there.

5. Marvel’s Jessica Jones

22010244 Netflix Netflix

Premiere date: TBC, Netflix

Krysten Ritter plays Jessica Jones, a retired superhero working as a private investigator in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s Netflix’s second Marvel series (after Daredevil) and also stars former Doctor Who star David Tennant. It is scheduled to debut later this year.

So now.

7. London Spy

Premiere date: October 2015, BBC Two

This new series stars Ben Whishaw as a young innocent man drawn into the not-so-innocent world of espionage. It stars British acting royalty, Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling, and promises to be A+.

8. The Grinder

roblowe Fox / YouTube Fox / YouTube / YouTube

Premiere date: September 29th (no UK/Ireland broadcaster as of yet)

Aziz Ansari isn’t the only Parks and Recreation alum to be getting a new show this autumn.

In The Grinder, Rob Lowe stars as an actor who once played a lawyer in a cancelled TV show and returns to his home town to try do it for real… to hilarious results. Nostalgia alert: it also stars Fred Savage from The Wonder Years.

9. Limitless

Premiere date: September 22nd (no UK/Ireland broadcaster as of yet)

Remember the Bradley Cooper film of the same name? Well, it’s been turned into a TV show. Here, Jake McDorman assumes Cooper’s role and plays a man who discovers a drug that can give him perfect recall/make him super smart.

10. Supergirl

Premiere date: October 26th, 2015 (no UK/Ireland broadcaster as of yet)

One of the buzziest shows this autumn and with good reason — it’s one of very few TV shows/movies to star a female superhero lead. You know you’ll be tuning in.

11. The Bastard Executioner

Premiere date: September 15th (no UK/Ireland broadcaster as of yet)

The new Game of Thrones? Quite possibly.

This new series, from the creator of Sons of Anarchy, is set in the 14th century and follows a man who becomes a “journeyman executioner”. Expect lots of bloodshed.

And Ed Sheeran, apparently.

12. American Horror Story: Hotel

Premiere date: October 20th, FOX

The fifth series will star Lady Gaga as a bloodsucking hotel owner.

*presses series record*

13. Fargo

Premiere date: October 12th (UK air date TBC)

The second season will follow the exploits of an officer in South Dakota and Minnesota in 1979. It stars Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Ted Danson, and we can probably expect a lot of excellent 1970s garb.
