Teenage boy drowns after falling into river

The incident happened shortly after 4pm this afternoon.

A 13-YEAR-OLD BOY has died after falling into a river in Kildare.

This happened near to the Kilcock Road shortly after 4pm.

Initially three teenagers, two boys and one girl, fell into the water.

One of the boys managed to climb out and alerted emergency services.

A rescue effort then took place, with the three being taken to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.

The teenager passed away a short time later.

It is understood the other two are not in a serious condition.
