Teenager had surgery after serious assault in Waterford last night

The 18-year-old was found lying on the ground at around 11.30pm.

A TEENAGE BOY has undergone surgery after being seriously assaulted in Waterford last night.

Gardaí found the 18-year-old lying on the path of John Street after being called to the scene at around 11.30pm.

It’s understood that the teenager was attacked by two men and that he was stabbed in the stomach a number of times and was bleeding profusely.

He was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery. He remains in the hospital this morning.

Gardaí have launched an investigation but have not yet made any arrests.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, in particular anyone who may have been in John Street/John Bridge area of Waterford last night between 11pm and midnight, to contact them on 051 305300, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
