A 12-YEAR-OLD and 17-year-old boy have been arrested this morning following the death of a man in his 40s.

The man was assaulted on Warrington Street in Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside, Greater Manchester shortly before 10:50 on Wednesday night.

Police discovered the injured man after being called to the assault.  He was taken to hospital but died in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Two 16-year-old boys were also arrested on Saturday. All four remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Kevin O’Regan from GMP’s Major Incident Team said:

This has been quite a fast moving investigation and we have now made three further arrests bringing the total number of people we have in custody to four.
“Our investigation continues and I would urge anybody with information to please contact police, no matter how insignificant you think it may be.”
