THE MOTHER OF a man missing for over three months has urged the public to come forward with any information they might have which could help track him down.
Bridget Egan’s son Tony disappeared from his home in Newmill Apartments Portarlington, Laois, on 19 September.
Bridget was due to meet him in Wexford the next day, but he never turned up. He had left all of his personal belongings including his wallet, mobile phone and laptop at his apartment.
Making an emotional plea on Crimecall last night, Bridget said: “He was very kind and loving when he was small. He loved playing on his bike like all kids used to do. We were very close.
He’d ring me every day or I’d ring him. He used to make me laugh all the time. I just want Tony back. I’m very worried.
“He was very kind and loving when he was small. He loved playing with his bikes like all other little kids used to do. The two of us were very close, very very close.
“He used to say ‘when you’re an old lady really old, I’ll look after you mammy’. He used to make me laugh all the time.”
Bridget described how she has been searching homeless facilities and putting up posters around Portarlington in the hope that somebody might remember seeing Tony on the day he went missing.
Gardaí have conducted a number of detailed investigations and have been in contact with the Greater London Police as Tony had contacts living in the English capital.
Bridget added: “We hope something may trigger something. I just want Tony back. I am very worried. Everybody loves him. I miss him terribly. I’m pleading for anyone who knows anything to pick up the phone. I’m brokenhearted.”
Tony Egan is described as being 34 years of age, 5 foot 11 inches tall, with brown hair, a slim build, black hooded top with black tracksuit bottoms and white runners.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact their local garda station or you can ring the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
