MEDICINAL CANNABIS CAMPAIGNER Vera Twomey caused chaos by staging a sit-in at the gates of Leinster House this afternoon.

Cork woman Twomey was demanding a meeting with Minister for Health Simon Harris over access to medicinal cannabis for her daughter Ava, and believes the drug will help ease her daughter’s debilitating seizures.

Twomey had spent the previous night sleeping outside the Dáil.

Gardaí attended the scene, and eventually forcibly removed the protest. It had lasted nearly three hours.

Afterwards, she expressed her disappointment that Harris had been unwilling to meet with her, but said that the gardaí behaved in a “very decent” fashion.
