SUMMER HAS FINALLY arrived! We thought this day would never come as we put on the winter raincoat nearly every day last month, but as they say, better late than never.

You know as much as we do that the Irish summer is unpredictable and can come and go as it pleases.

With temperatures expected to reach between 19 and 24 degrees we suggest you make the most of it. Highest temperatures will be in the sunny southeast today.

While there may be some fog around this morning, Met Eireann says this will lift quickly making for a dry, sunny day.

12/08/2015. Summer. Members of the public relax at Sasko Lazarov Sasko Lazarov

It will be dry in most areas, but it will stay rather cloudy along northwest coasts and in the south.

In the evening, expect some light rain in the west, where it will also be a little cooler today with temperatures between 16 to 18 degrees. Still not too shabby.

Winds will be light, becoming northerly during the day.

Dust off the swimming togs and enjoy!
