COLD, WINDY AND SHOWERY. Just the words you want to hear on a Sunday (sorry), but unfortunately that’s today’s weather forecast.
Met Eireann has also issued an snow-ice warning this afternoon for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Heavy thundery showers will increasingly turn wintry, especially over higher ground.
Not only is there a possibility of snowy showers, there are blustery westerly winds blowing out there too.
There is also a yellow marine weather warning in place, with Met Eireann warning that west to northwest winds will continue to reach gale force today on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.
While it may be cold and showery, on a positive note it will also be bright.
Most of the showers are going to be in west, southwest and north of the country.
Temperatures aren’t the worst we’ve seen at about 5 to 7 degrees, but the wind may make it feel that little bit colder, so it might be time to break out the woolly gloves.
Later tonight it’s going to be windy and it could creep below 0 degrees to -1 to +2 degrees, says Met Eireann. There could be frost too.
Might be a day to stay on the couch in front of the fire so.
