VERY STRONG GALE force winds will impact on all coasts of Ireland, with Met Eireann warning of some severe gusts.

Met Eireann has issued a warning of strong west to southwest gale force 8 to storm force 10 winds for today. Winds from 40-60 kilometres per hour will be felt on the west coast, with 30-40 kilometre winds on the east coast.

They said there would be squally heavy showers of rain and hail today, with a risk of some thundery downpours. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Today ESB reports cluster disruptions in areas such as Westport, Thurles and Listowell.

Further heavy showers are expected tonight but Met Eireann says the winds will ease down gradually, with lowest temperatures 2 to 5 degrees.
