1. #SEX ABUSE: Pope Francis is to set up a Vatican committee to fight sex abuse. It is believed the panel will look at at how to protect children from paedophiles and how to better screen men for the priesthood.

2. #NO TAX CUTS: The Irish Fiscal Advisory Council has said that it doesn’t think there is any scope for tax cuts in the next two years.

3. #STAND-OFF: The man hospitalised after an armed stand-off with gardaí in Dublin yesterday has died in hospital.

4. #SMITHWICK: Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has defended remarks he made about two RUC officers killed by the IRA saying his views reflect what is recorded by the Smithwick Tribunal.

5. #LGBT: The Legion of Mary society in NUI Galway has been suspended over a campaign which looked to encourage people to “move beyond the confines of the homosexual label”.
