Cryptocurrency accounts containing around €350,000 frozen after garda operation in Co Galway

TWO CRYPTOCURRENCY ACCOUNTS have been frozen and a man has been arrested following a garda operation in Co Galway.

As part of ongoing investigations into organised criminal activity in Galway, gardaí today conducted an operation at a residential property in the Doughiska area.

The property was searched under warrant and members of the Regional Armed Support Unit assisted in the operation.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently being detained at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

As part of the operation, two cryptocurrency accounts containing $410,000 (€347,000) have been frozen, along with an account at a local financial institution holding over €20,000.

A garda spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
