Man in his 80s killed in farmhouse fire

The body of a pensioner was discovered at the isolated dwelling in Wexford earlier today, gardaí have confirmed.

AN INVESTIGATION IS under way after a man in his 80s was killed in a house fire in Co Wexford last night, gardaí have confirmed.

The fire broke out yesterday at around 10pm in the isolated old farmhouse near New Ross.

After a search resumed this morning, the body of the man was discovered and taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.

The scene is currently being preserved to facilitate a technical examination. The incident is being investigated but gardaí are not treating the incident as suspicious.
