IF YOU MISSED last weekend’s annual Cat Laughs Festival, don’t worry. There’s a bounty of comedy events taking place over the next few days to make you crack a smile.

As a nation, we enjoy a good laugh. Here are four events this week to give you a giggle.

1.  Pop your comedy club cherry in Dublin’s city centre

When: Monday 11 June, 8pm

Where: Whelan’s, 25 Wexford St, Dublin

The perfect way to ease you into the week ahead, Cherry Comedy is a weekly night showcasing the city’s emerging comedic talent mixed with some of Ireland’s legendary jokesters. On this occasion, former Republic of Telly co-host Joanne McNally will take to the stage as the special guest.

Tickets are available at the door or here.

2. Spend an evening Under The Influence with Navan’s son in Cork

When: Saturday 9 June, 8pm

Where: The Marquee, 15 Monahan Rd, Cork

Tommy Tiernan is bringing his Under The Influence show to Cork’s Live at the Marquee Festival. He’s been performing material for this highly praised (and regularly sold out) show since 2016. An evening with the mischievous comedian in this setting is not to be missed.

Tickets can be purchased here.

3. Mock the weekend with Michael McIntyre in Dublin’s 3Arena

When: Friday 8, Saturday 9, Sunday 10 June, 8pm

Where: 3Arena, North Wall Quay, North Dock, Dublin 1

English comedian Michael McIntyre of 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You has stepped away from your television screen and is in the midst of completing his Big World Tour, bringing his jokes to audiences from Dubai to Dublin. McIntyre will take up a residency in Dublin’s 3Arena for the weekend.

Tickets available here.

4. Galway now has a reason to chuckle every Tuesday night

When: Tuesday 12 June, 9pm

Where: Róisín Dubh, 9 Dominick St Upper, Galway

Karl Spain recently added comedy host to his already lengthy CV with a new weekly show, Comedy Karnival in the Róisín Dubh. Each event will have a rotating cast of comedians performing on stage with Spain introducing new voices of the comedy scene. This week’s line-up includes Tom O’Mahony, Tomie James and Margaret McHugh.

You can buy tickets at the door or here.
