EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, brings you the five biggest stories of the day.

1. #HEATWAVE: The Air Corps has been assisting firefighting operations for a sixth consecutive day as wildfires continue to break out across the country.

2. #SCOTTISH ISLAND: A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the death of six-year-old Alesha MacPhail, according to Sky News.

3. #CERVICAL CHECK: Emma Mhic Mhathúna, whose smear tests were found to be incorrectly interpreted in a review, and was then diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer, has said her tumours have spread to her brain.

4. #MEANWHILE: An independent review into over 3,000 cervical smear checks has not yet begun despite it being expected to have been completed by the start of June.

5. #STRIKE: Ryanair passengers are facing more disruption as cabin crew across Europe prepare to strike at the end of this month.
